  • I’m blanking on all the players playing sports at the college level. I’m an old man who has memory issues. This is not meant to offend anyone and is a place holder for all the good things other board members are going to tell me.

Lawson Attaway

Lawson spent most of his high school career playing the sport he knew best — football. Lacrosse wasn’t part of the plan. He had never picked up a lacrosse stick until after the Tigers’ football season ended during his senior year.

But once he stepped onto the field, it didn’t take long to realize Lawson had found something special.

What started as simply giving a new sport a try quickly turned into an amazing story. Lawson adapted to lacrosse with natural instincts, toughness, and athleticism that coaches can’t teach. Teammates watched him grow, learning the game at an incredible pace while making it look like he’d been playing for years.

Lawson brought energy, toughness, and a willingness to work that made him an easy player to root for. He proved that it’s never too late to take a chance on something new.

Now, that chance is taking him to the next level.

Lawson will continue his academic and athletic career at Virginia Wesleyan, where he will play collegiate lacrosse. For someone who only discovered the sport during his senior year, it’s an incredible achievement and a testament to what can happen when talent meets opportunity and hard work.

The Tiger family is excited to see where his lacrosse journey goes next.
